I am absolutely amazed with your service I ordered my bike on the 8th August and it arrived at 9.26am, Via DHL, on the 10th August.
The bike is beautiful and I really love the Red. I took my time putting it together and met a few little snags.
1) The nice little toolkit had 3 Allen keys 1x 4mm but 2 x 5mm! A 6mm is required to secure the handle bar unit to the frame. and a 2.5mm is needed to allow movement of the display unit to provide access to the bolts of the clamp fixing the handlebars to the stem!
2) when fitting the front mudguard the bolt on the right hand fork was found to be cross threaded ( picture below) and and although I am 75yrs and still relatively strong I couldn't remove it using the Allen key supplied! Good job I have my own tool kit part of which is pictured below. After I removed the said bolt I re-cut the thread on both the bolt and fixing point on the fork (pictured below)! Having had 9 years experience in Aircraft maintenance helps.
I also served with the London Fire Brigade for a little over 28 years and I have to say that when charging the battery, I found the frame housing the battery stayed cold giving the reassuring feeling that the battery was also cold. But the temperature the charger unit developed was not. It also made the ceramic tiles it was sat on very warm so I placed two pencil shaped supports, across the width, under it, to allow more airflow all around it. I feel that the charger would be better built into a casing with vents and that contains Heat sinks and a small fan to dissipate the heat in a way similar to the to which it is done with computers, or the charger built more robustly so it doesn't build up that amount of heat whilst charging the battery.
I am waiting to take the bike by car to my local National trust property where they have a cycle track around the property to get myself used to it. I will send you a picture of the bike parked in front of Osterley House when I visit and try the bike there.
My very best of regards
Alfie
P.S. I bought a new cycle helmet with RED flashes on it and I am pleased to say it almost matches the RED of the bike.
To continue:- First ride in Osterley Park : I was absolutely surprised at the power surge once you start pedalling it takes a little bit of getting used to after not having ridden a bike for a few years let alone and electric bike. But everything worked fine. It's easy to pedal without assistance but at my age the help is very welcome. Very good readout on the screen. the 7 Shimano gears worked seamlessly. The suspension was amazing. The disc brakes have plenty of stopping power and having brake lights activated by the brake levers is a real safety feature. The bike received lots of attention on my way round the park and even more when parked up at the Stables Cafe when I stopped for a coffee with people asking all about it and how strong it looked. I weigh about 13 odd stone and the Engine X didn't seem to notice at all. And it is street legal having read the Official Government guide lines. It's just a really great looking and workhorse of a bike.
